Sewing for Libby's doll
Here are some of the dresses I've made for Libby's doll Alexa so far this year. I sewed the newest evening gown last night out of a blue satin remnant I found at the craft store last week. Libby was so excited!
Here's a cute colonial style day dress from some scraps in my fabric bin. I made this one last Thursday evening and Libby got to stay up until I was finished with it. I love the circular poofy skirt - it has crinoline sewed underneath to fluff it out - so cute!
A cute yellow summer dress from fabric Libby picked out this summer.
The all-important flannel nightgown for keeping warm on cool nights. . .
And also a prairie dress and contrasting apron that we made this summer - this one was by far the most work of all the dresses due to the ruffles along the hem and over the sleeves. This was a two-day project instead of a single evening job!
We have plans for a few more coming up soon. My fabric scrap box is beginning to run low, so if anyone knows of a good place to get remnants, I'd love to hear about it!

Caleb's 4th Birthday Party
Caleb blows out his candles in one giant puff.
Thrilled with his Superman cake!
Look at the size of the piece that Papa cut for him!
Eating his cake the fast way.
Caleb's frosting moustache :)
A slow-mo of Caleb socking Uncle Zack in the nose while horsing around.
Waiting for his presents. . .
So excited for his new Thomas movie!
Tons of presents for one very happy little four year old! Thank you Grandma and Papa, Uncle Zack, Uncle Josh, Uncle Danny and Aunt JoyC for making this little guy's day!
Going for the last swim of the year in his clothes!
Libby swimming in her clothes, too!
The whole thing started with Caleb and Libby getting little buckets of water from the edge, then just getting their feet wet, then their legs. Next, Caleb jumped in and got soaked. Then Libby dumped a bucket of water over her head and jumped in, too! Papa, Nathan, and Zack were closing the pool while these pictures were being taken.

Caleb's Birthday Cake!
Here's my baking project for the weekend - Caleb's 4th birthday cake! I saw this design online while I was looking for Superman cakes. This one looked really cool, so I tried it. It uses the frozen transfer method - pretty much you trace the mirror image of your design on a sheet of plastic with frosting, then freeze it for 1-2 hours. Once it's frozen, you peel it off the plastic and stick it on the cake. It didn't come out exactly like the one I saw, but I am really happy with it for a first timer! Caleb can't wait to get into it. I even got the cake box to fit it, so hopefully it will make it to the party without being wrecked by cats or kids. Next, photos of the party tomorrow. . . :)
