Dog Days of Summer

Here's a shot of Mandie hauling herself out of the pool after taking a spill in the pool at Mom and Dad's a few weeks ago. She was so upset by watching Caleb jump off the diving board (all by himself!) that she lost track of where she was standing and just fell in head first!

This is an equally disturbing picture of Caleb having fun in the pool. Dad and Nathan developed a game with Caleb where they toss him back and forth while Caleb screams in delight. Yikes!

Here's Nathan, Caleb & Libby by the Towpath Trails in Peninsula, Ohio. We were taking pictures before climbing aboard the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway for a trip to Rockside and back. Papa Rohr, Mom and Dad and our family all went and had a great time.

Independence Day fireworks at the Blossom Music Festival with the whole clan. Zack and Dan, Joy and Sam were all able to come up to visit for the holiday weekend. We had a great time listening to the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra and then enjoyed the fireworks that followed. Libby was really into the fireworks again this year. Caleb - not so much. He enjoyed watching the fireworks, but was terrified of the noise. He sat with me for the first few rockets, and then moved on to Daddy. Nathan covered Caleb's little ears and they sat together the whole time like this.

More Vacation Pictures

We have spent the last few days enjoying the beach here on our vacation. We are enjoying beautiful weather and fun times. We have settled into a little routine that seems to be working quite well. The kids get up early and head out to the beach with Papa to set up the tent and go for a walk on the beach. They usually return by 8 AM and we all make and eat breakfast together (except Josh who hasn't quite made it out of bed in time to join us yet).

Then we all get suited up and head down to the beach. Dad/Papa usually takes the kids to swim in the pool while the rest of us sun bathe and play in the waves. Late in the morning, one of us takes Caleb and sometimes Libby back to the condo to take a nap and have an early lunch. The rest of the family usually arrives for a late lunch and then a nap or another walk. Then we make dinner, clean up the dishes and head out for a final walk on the beach. We put Caleb down to sleep and wait about a half hour for him to fall asleep and then Libby goes to sleep. We spend the rest of the evening watching TV, playing card games, challenging each other to games on Josh's Nintendo Wii, reading, and catching up with friends at home on the phone or online.
