The kids were bugging me to buy them some puppets from a catalog they were looking at during lunch this afternoon. I thought it might be fun to make them instead, so I did a little looking around for puppet pattern info online. After a quick trip to the craft store for some styrofoam balls, puppet hair supplies, and a sheet of foam, this is what we came up with! Both puppets are made from pieces of left-over fleece in my fabric bin. They have styrofoam eyes, pom-pom noses, and little heart shaped felt tongues (that you can't see in these pictures). Caleb has christened his "Puppet Joe" and Libby's is "Princess Lana". They were actually pretty easy to make (except for hot-gluing all the curly strands of Princess Lana's hair to her head). I think we might make a few more in different colors if they remain popular with the little people. Libby and Caleb just carried the puppets up to bed with them for the night. Here's hoping they don't stay up too late chatting with their new friends.
